Surgical Procedures & Treatments
Our Specialist Care Services
Mr Hornby provides consultant-led assessment and treatment across a wide range of upper gastrointestinal conditions. His work covers both diagnostic and operative care, with an emphasis on clear decision-making, appropriate intervention, and continuity from first consultation through to recovery.
Each area below outlines the conditions treated, the procedures offered, and what patients can expect at each stage of their care, allowing you to explore the most relevant treatment pathway in more detail.

Mr Hornby provides specialist care for a wide range of upper gastrointestinal conditions. Where possible, non-surgical options are always considered first, with treatment recommendations tailored carefully to each individual.
Accurate diagnosis is central to effective care. Investigations such as endoscopy are used where appropriate to assess symptoms including persistent acid reflux, unexplained abdominal pain, or swallowing difficulties. These findings guide whether treatment involves monitoring, medical management, or progression to surgery.
Mr Hornby also has expertise in the assessment and surgical management of upper gastrointestinal malignancy, including oesophageal and gastric cancer, working within established clinical pathways to ensure timely referral and evidence-based care.
Your Upper GI and General Surgeon
“As your Upper GI and General Surgery Consultant, I provide care from the earliest assessment of symptoms through to diagnosis and treatment.
This includes arranging and performing appropriate investigations, such as endoscopy, where further assessment is needed.
If treatment is required, I will guide you through the available options, including medical management or surgery, and explain what is most appropriate for your individual circumstances.
My aim is to offer clear advice, careful decision-making, and consistent consultant-led care at every stage.”
